End of the World Near

End of the World near
And nothing to show for it

Not love or passion
Just grief and regret

End of the World near
And we’re as empty as ever

No time to fill the void
Only time to reflect

End of the World near
Even with loved ones and friends here

We’re still alone
Always

Empty

You land upon me with delicate ease
I had seen you coming.

To take from me that which I have worked
To maintain the life of me
The work I have done
Has been worthless

I had thought that with this work
Would come fame and fortune
But it has not been my real work
It has been my species

Creating what others believe I must
Not what I believe

You land upon me
To take the juices that stir within
Things which nobody sees
You suck the life out of me with your labor
My species rejoice as
You leave me
I have filled their purpose.

Alone, exiled, and bitter.
You have taken my sweetness
Leaving me empty

Save the Innocence

Staring out innocent eyes watch
As from the sky a bird flies by
Something shiny
Something small
Falls

Slowly
With fear in their eyes
Watching

Gripping hands as it kisses the earth
A shudder, a tremble
A wave of earth
Rushing towards them
A silent crash

Quiet, then a cough
 the boy lifts himself
From the ashes
To the left and right he swings his head
Shaking it off

Looking down
His sister’s hand still in his grip
A sinking feeling

Despair crept up his throat
 Tears came
Shock
 Disbelief

Lying unmoving
Dirt caked her tiny innocent face
Motionless.
